What skills are expected before entry into each ensemble?

Singing is a natural skill that we develop as we develop language, and all singers are learning!  Please support your singer with honest and positive feedback.  For some children whose parents don’t sing much with them, who are surrounded by adults who sing low, or who don’t experiment much with their voices as very young children, consistent pitch matching may not have been learned early.  It can still be learned!  (Even for adults!)  Please give your child the opportunity to develop her skills – it will happen!

Skills and qualities of most Sisters’ Voices–One singers:
– love of singing
– desire to sing with a group
– willingness to take direction
– ability, perhaps inconsistently, to match pitch, echoing another person
– ability, perhaps inconsistently, to sing along accurately with another person singing a known melody
– ability, perhaps inconsistently, to sing a song recognizably without accompaniment
– ability to distinguish between high and low pitches, and between loud and soft/quiet
(Some SV-One singers are also able to sing their own part in a round with another singer.)
