5th grade singers who are new to Sisters’ Voices should NOT fill out this form unless they have been invited to do so by Leandra or Jenny. Instead, you have two options. You may audition to be placed into either SV-Three or SV-Stepping In, or you may sign up for SV-Stepping In without auditioning. Go back to the 2024-2025 Registration Page for more information.

4th grade singers who are new to Sisters’ Voices and returning singers do not need to audition and may sign up on this form.

CAMP

Dates: August 19, 2024 – August 23, 2024

When you register for Sisters’ Voices Camp 2024 you will also register for the 2024-2025 year. It is possible to register for the year without registering for camp, but not possible to register for camp without registering for the year. Camp is definitely encouraged for both new and returning singers! It will help singers connect to each other and build musical skills that will be important for the coming year.

Sisters’ Voices Camp week for the summer of 2024 will focus on 2nd – 5th graders who will sing with Sisters’ Voices ensembles for the 2024-2025 season. This camp will help singers connect to each other and build musical skills that will be important for the coming year. Skills are encountered and built through making music together, movement, playing games, working puzzles, and other activities. Camp week is full of fun, and it focuses on building individual skills and knowledge, and on the singers getting to know each other better. Singers will work on solfege with both Curwen handsigns and musical notation. We’ll explore good vocal technique through a study of anatomy of breath and voice. We’ll explore the ways singing is like a sport. We’ll explore some great poetry and find ways to use elements of music (pitch, rhythm and meter, form, dynamics, articulation) to express the poems. We’ll learn several pieces of music, focusing on learning to sing in parts and unaccompanied, building in details of expressiveness. Each day will begin with a thorough warm-up that will include stretching, movement, and aural and vocal exercises. There will be no public performance at the end of this camp week; it is a treasure that we have time together that is not pressured by the demands of producing a performance. Much of the repertoire that we study during camp will be performed at early performances during the year (if we are selected to perform at the Carrboro Music Festival, etc). Sisters’ Voices Camp 2024 will take place in the Fellowship Hall and Room 15 at Binkley Church from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. each day. Please reach out to Leandra at leandra@sistersvoices.org if you’ll need earlier care or later care — we can usually accommodate that and will work to find a way for everyone who wants to participate to do so.

SV-THREE ENSEMBLE

SV-Three singers begin singing canons, developing vocal independence along with increasing reading skills: rhythm, pitch, vocabulary, and score navigation. Singers typically are invited to participate in performances beyond the SV winter and spring concerts. SV-Three is a full year commitment and singers participate in two rehearsals a week from September through May. All SV-Three singers will attend rehearsals on Mondays from 4:15 pm until 5:15 pm and on Thursdays from 5:30 pm until 7:00 pm in the Binkley Preschool wing of Binkley Baptist Church, 1712 Willow Drive, Chapel Hill.

COST: The cost of the Sisters’ Voices Three ensemble is $1280. A sliding scale is available. Please see the information on the Tuition 2024-2025 page or the table at the bottom of this page in regards to tuition payments this year.

Upon registration, all families will pay a non-refundable deposit equal to the first and last months’ tuition. Families may then choose to pay the remaining balance in full or to schedule monthly payments. If you choose pay in full, the remaining balance will be automatically drafted from your card on October 1st. If you choose to schedule monthly payments, your card will automatically be drafted on the first of the month from October through March.
