Leandra Merea Strope, founding director of Sisters’ Voices, received her Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from Meredith College, her Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the Yale School of Music, and has done doctoral work in Choral Conducting and Literature at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. She has served as Director and Assistant Director of ensembles at Meredith, Yale, and IU, as well as numerous churches, traveled and conducted throughout Europe and the Eastern United States, and directed the choral program at Abington Friends School (Middle and Upper School), performing a variety of music including oratorio and opera with students. Leandra served as the Lead Teacher of Choral Music at the Governor’s School of North Carolina – West, in Winston-Salem, from 1996 until 2005.
